Taxis or ‘Hackney Carriage’s’ on the Isle of Wight are regulated by the licensing department at the Isle of Wight Council. The prices are set using the current approved table of fares. The cheapest time of day to take a taxi on the Isle of Wight is Monday to Saturday (excluding public and bank holidays) from 8 am and before 8pm when the tariff is set to tariff 1 for up to 4 passengers. Prices increase at 8 pm and again at midnight before dropping again at 6am and dropping again at 8am. (excluding Sunday’s, public and bank holidays).
